Type Locality and Naming

The type section lies at Qingshuigou, Jinji Village, on the northeast side of Banqiao Town, Baoshan, Yunnan. It was named by Wang Xiangdong et al. in 1993.


Lithology and Thickness

Marl and Limestone. Lower part consists of gray thin-bedded marl and dark-gray moderately thick-bedded micrite bioclastic limestone, containing diagenetic siderite concretions. The Middle and Upper parts are interbeds of micrite bioclastic limestone and marl-bearing micro-grained quartzose sandstone. About 120 m thick.

Fossils

In the bioclastic limestone and marl of this formation are contained large amounts of fossils, including small-sized solitary Corals Pentaphyllum, Ufimia, Cyathaxonia, Commutia and Sychnoelasma; Brachiopods Pugilis, Eochoristites, Unispirifer, Fusella, Plicochonetes and Scutepustula; Conodonts Gnathodus pseudosemiglaber, G. semiglaber, G. texanus, etc., as well as gastropods, trilobites, crinoids, etc., being of the Visean Age.
